A standard window clean removes the grime that sits on top of the glass — dust, pollution film, water marks from the last rain. The Full Detail Clean goes further. Razor blades and steel wool treat what detergent alone can't shift. Here's exactly what it costs, what it removes, and when you need it.
The Full Detail Clean is priced as a premium on top of the standard clean. For baseline pricing across all property types before adding the Full Detail upgrade, see the complete Melbourne window cleaning cost guide.
Full Detail Clean pricing — Melbourne 2026
The Full Detail Clean is priced as a 50% premium on the standard window cleaning rate. The exact dollar amount depends on your home's size and the scope of the standard clean:
| Property | Service | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single storey | Exterior only, Full Detail | $210–$345 |
| Single storey | Interior & exterior, Full Detail | $375–$600 |
| Double storey | Exterior only, Full Detail | $375–$510 |
| Double storey | Interior & exterior, Full Detail | $675–$825 |
The Full Detail Clean is the standard clean plus the premium treatment — not a separate service. You book one job; it includes everything.
What does the Full Detail Clean actually remove?
Razor blade and steel wool treatment is applied to interior glass on both floors and exterior ground floor glass. Here's what it targets:
- Paint spots and overspray — from tradespeople working nearby during construction or renovation. A razor blade lifts dried paint from glass without scratching.
- Construction residue — concrete dust, silicone splashes, and builder's film that a standard wash moves around rather than removes.
- Hard water spotting — mineral deposits from tap water, irrigation overspray or pool splash. Steel wool treatment reduces moderate build-up significantly.
- Heavy oxidised film — years of accumulated pollution, salt and grime that has oxidised onto the glass surface and resists detergent alone.
- Adhesive residue — sticker or tape adhesive left on glass from window film removal, builder's tape or label residue.
When do you need the Full Detail Clean?
Most customers who book the Full Detail Clean fall into one of these situations:
Post-construction or renovation
Builders' tape adhesive, silicone splashes, paint overspray and concrete dust are all left on glass after a renovation. A standard clean won't shift these. The Full Detail Clean does.
First professional clean in several years
Windows that haven't been professionally cleaned for 3+ years often have oxidised film bonded to the glass. A standard clean removes the surface layer; the Full Detail Clean restores the glass properly.
Hard water spotting from irrigation or pool
Automated irrigation systems spray tap water onto glass and pool water splashes onto fencing. When this dries repeatedly, mineral deposits bond to the surface. The Full Detail Clean reduces this significantly.
Pre-sale where maximum clarity matters
For a premium property going to auction, the Full Detail Clean is the difference between windows that look professionally cleaned and windows that look new. See the pre-sale window cleaning service for full scope options.
What the Full Detail Clean doesn't cover
To be direct about what the treatment can and can't do:
- Severe hard water etching where minerals have bonded into the glass surface — this requires glass restoration, which is a separate specialist service
- Scratched or damaged glass — the razor blade will make existing scratches more visible
- Pool fencing and balustrades (unless specifically requested — quoted separately)
- Guaranteed stain removal where the degree of etching is unknown until cleaning begins
Where the outcome is uncertain — particularly with severe hard water etching — we assess on the day and discuss realistic expectations before proceeding. We won't charge for a Full Detail Clean result that doesn't justify the premium.
Can I get the Full Detail Clean on just some windows?
Yes. Many customers apply the Full Detail treatment only to heavily affected areas — a set of windows facing the pool, a bathroom with heavy condensation spotting, or the ground-floor exterior that's copped paint from a nearby renovation. We'll quote the treatment per-area or per-level.
